Key Medium Helps Empower Adults with disAbilities in Pennsylvania and Delaware and Wins 2 Internationally-Acclaimed Gold Awards

  • Through the Coding For Causes program, Key Medium donated the website, design, development, and content strategy to Community Integrated Services (CIS).
  • The website’s statistics immediately improved with a 38% lift in sessions, 17% lift in session duration, 28% lift in unique users, a 21% lift in organic traffic, and a 212% lift in social traffic.
  • Key Medium created large, bold visuals to connect with the target audience of disAbled adults, making the site more user-friendly and appropriate.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Key Medium redeveloped Community Integrated Services (CIS)’s website at cisworks.org. CIS seeks to empower people with disAbilities by providing employment opportunities tailored to their individual needs, fostering self-sustainability, equality, and community. CIS is the largest agency providing social services and employment opportunities to young adults with disAbilities in both Delaware and Pennsylvania.

Ali Jaffar, CEO and Lead Developer at Key Medium explains, “CIS’s old website didn’t provide a great user experience, especially given their target audience. The website was not secure, it was hard to update and navigate. It lacked a clear information architecture, and, again, more importantly, didn’t meet the needs of the audience.”

Key Medium discussed the scope of the project with CIS, community partners, disabled adults, and local nonprofits and came up with solutions. They created a custom website redesign and brand refresh. Key Medium updated their on-page SEO and content strategy and improved their website’s information architecture. Key Medium provided a clear data analytics dashboard so CIS can monitor their own website performance in real-time, learning how to improve their overall website results.

The website received a 38% lift in sessions, 17% lift in session duration, 28% lift in unique users, a 21% lift in organic traffic, and a 212% lift in social traffic.

David Downey, Business Development Specialist, discussed their experience working with Key Medium: “Working with Key Medium has been great. [Key Medium is] always very professional with a lot of opportunities to provide feedback during the website redesign process. Additionally, [Key Medium provided] continued support for improving branding and media maintenance has taken the situation from good to great.”

For the website redesign, Key Medium received a Gold Award in dotCOMM’s 2019 international awards competition. Key Medium also received a second Gold Award in AVA Digital Awards’ 2020 competition. The dotCOMM award honors excellence in web creativity and digital communication. The AVA Digital Awards is an international competition that recognizes outstanding work by creative professionals involved in the concept, direction, design, and production of media that is part of the evolution of digital communication. Both are internationally-acclaimed and administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP).
