Award-winning Digital Experience for an Industry Partnership in Southeastern Pennsylvania

SUCCESS CASE SPOTLIGHT: Southeastern Pennsylvania Manufacturing Alliance (SEPMA)

The Southeast PA Manufacturing Alliance (SEPMA) is a ‘multi-employer collaborative’ which consists of regional manufacturers, those who educate people to work in the industry, workforce development, economic development, and community organizations to address workforce needs in the manufacturing sector. You can find them at

SEPMA wanted to focus on growing membership by conveying their value proposition to members and prospects. They wanted a clear platform to share news and events. Their old website was outdated with an unclear site structure and they wanted a clean, fresh microsite on the Philadelphia Works website, which Key Medium redeveloped earlier this year, to showcase their platform.

We completed a custom website design and focused on development and site structure. We focused on on-page SEO and a content strategy for lead generation.

We kept the audience of HR/training managers and executives in mind when supporting web copy efforts and working on the user experience for the website. We utilized a cohesive color scheme and improved branding elements as well as creating a seamless user experience, allowing site users to know exactly where they want to navigate next with a clear tile structure and clear headings.

During development, we delivered a microsite website to ensure there were few interruptions but allowing SEMPA to launch a site that immediately looked better. We also restructured the SEO of existing content to ensure that the website will continue to perform well.

We improved the overall look and feel of the website. Following the Spring launch, we helped them grow membership and achieved an increase in total page views by over 20%, lifted unique pageviews by over 75%, and reduced bounce rate by nearly 15%.

We worked with this employer-led group to assist them in better conveying their value proposition and with their own, personalized microsite which enabled membership/signups for applications to become part of the Alliance to reap their many benefits.

There were multiple stakeholders to please in the design, which always makes it trickier, but we were able to agree on a design that has consistently performed well.

Ali Jaffar, having lived in the Philadelphia area for three decades, truly believes in the Philly community and advancing opportunities for those in the community. He was delighted to work with SEPMA to help them reach their goals and website metrics. He notes, “Everything we do at Key Medium, from design to development to digital strategy, is tried, tested, and modified to achieve the best results.” Jaffar knew that with the right redesign and digital strategy, SEPMA would be able to thrive and help the larger community. The results and awards speak for themselves.

As a result, this year, SEPMA received a 2019 Muse Creative Awards Rose Gold, which recognizes excellence in design, creativity, and digital, and a 2019 dotComm Awards Honorable Mention in Web-Associations, which recognizes web creativity.
